Julie Thekkudan, Ph.D is gender specialist with over 17 years of experience on women’s rights and gender equality, she has completed her doctoral studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi with a specialization on women’s rights,
Julie’s experience covers the spectrum of working with international and national organisations where she has been responsible for providing strategic leadership for the portfolio on women’s rights and gender equality.
Along with Dr. Devika Singh, Julie was responsible for one of the first research studies on the implementation of the Supreme Court Directives for the prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace in India.
Julie has developed the curriculum for online courses on prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace, gender and governance, and social accountability, she has contributed towards the processes related to child protection both organizationally and programmatically.
Along with being an external member for both corporate and non-governmental organisations, she is an external member to the CII Women’s Empowerment Cell in Delhi and the Commonwealth Gender Forum and is credited with many capacity building sessions on gender awareness and sensitisation, prevention of sexual harassment and other forms of violence against women, gender sensitive institutions, work policies and systems, and gender audits for corporates, governmental institutions and the not-for-profits.
